Kylie – Paris POPB – Tuesday May 6th 2008

This article has been published to luvmuzik and music rooms

Hopes were high in Bercy this week – after the show-stopping theatrics of last year’s homecoming tour, tonight’s performance by the pop princess had to be something spectacular. The show’s program doesn’t feature a setlist; only a few eccelctic photographs and a full credits list. The rumours were that this show would be a lot darker and “freaky” than before. The rumours were true.

Spacewomen, skulls and Samurais mixed with sailors, cheerleaders and ballroom dancing to make for a (literally) gasp-worthy show. The setlist was hugely different to the Showgirl tours – no hits like I should be so lucky and Step back in time, but plenty of the new album – and a few never-before-heard songs – performed against a structurally plain stage set. Vamping in English and French, Kylie seemed to effortlessly changing characters, costumes, and routines. With such a huge production, the show is likely to be the same every night, but I already have my ticket for her O2 shows – and I’m on the look-out for more!
