Beano’s to close (no, really this time)

Europe’s biggest Second-Hand record store is to close for good, making way for a new marketplace venue to open in late 2009.

From the website:

You may have read in the national press that, after over thirty years, BEANOS is finally to close. We have been experiencing very poor trade for several years. We did announce an imminent closure two years ago but public reaction encouraged us to reduce the size of the operation and we have been trading on just the ground floor since. Unfortunately, this is no longer possible and we are now selling off all the remaining stock and hope to have cleared the bulk early in 2009. So, BEANOS will only be a memory but, we are building something that will be just as exciting, called “Market Place”, where we will have 50 small stalls and shops in our beautiful building.
