The first part of the new East London Line – stretching from Dalston to New Cross opened today ahead of schedule and on budget. The upgrade includes 14 newly refurbished stations and a fleet of 20 new air conditioned vehicles. The new transport route serves a long-suffering part of inner London which has had limited bus and rail services, and barely any tube connections, for several decades.
The full route will be available from the 23rd May 2010, and will go as far south as West Croydon. Further branches have been planned for the future. Read more at the press release.
