In short, don’t have afternoon tea here. Go to Dolly’s on the lower ground floor instead.
For £20 (a fiver more than the adequate one-serving at Harvey Nichols), you are served 4 miniscule sandwich segments, one scone, and two petit fours. Considering a lot of unlimited hotel teas are not much more expensive and the setting here is just what you’d expect from the restaurant at an upmarket department store, there’s not much I can find about it that’s positive.
We did return once for lunch, which was equally disappointing. Shame, as there’s been a lot of hype around the Hix franchise. Perhaps their flagship premises in Soho is a lot better.
